Real Space for a Virtual Reality Startup
Sunny and weird Austin, TX is our home — and our home base.
Tacos and barbecue fuel our exploits and explorations in the many-faceted world of VR. While we bounce all around the globe for different conferences and meetings, the heart of our operations can be found just north of downtown Austin, TX.
The building we’re in is friendly, spacious, and modern. It’s a converted state trooper center with lots of potential for hosting larger functions. Knowing us (and the extended VR fam), we’ll be making plenty of use of all that room.
When it comes to our office, we wanted to have a space that invites curiosity and makes room for people to work and play together. The ‘togetherness’ potential of VR is what attracts us most to this technology and its future applications, so we wanted a layout that cultivates that.
With these goals in mind, we keep our floor plan as open and flexible as possible. Testing VR apps and games (especially multiplayer stuff) requires a lot of space, so our tables, chairs, and desks are all on wheels. We have to accommodate for our devs, our gear — and a lot of Patrick Blast Radius.
Of course, everything at this stage of the company is iterative. No matter how comfy and right the space feels now, it’ll change again — and soon.
As our list of partnerships and projects grows, we’ll be bringing in more people and more gear. Doing so will mean expansion, re-shuffling, and creative verticality (our producer has already volunteered to hang from the ceiling if needs be).
One thing, though, will remain the same: we are dedicated to keeping the FarBridge office a welcoming and comfortable space, not just for experiencing and creating VR, but for the people engaged in doing just that.
