Code of Conduct

FarBridge is committed to making a safe, welcoming environment for all humans we work with and come into contact with. This includes employees, contractors, vendors, partners, office-mates, clients, event participants, and end-users.

You are welcome here

This company is a community, and we strive to make and keep it welcoming for everyone. We are of all races, genders, beliefs, orientations, and backgrounds. This is our house: let’s make awesome and inclusive futures for all humans.

Recognize and embrace humanity

We are all humans here. Recognize and respect your fellows, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, sexuality, hometown, socioeconomic status, or experience level.

Consent is rad

If you are planning on touching someone, taking something, or otherwise imposing yourself on another human being, ask them first.

Don’t physically assault people

Don’t punch, kick, roughhouse, or otherwise engage in acts of violence against anyone. We have treasured gear and even more precious humans around. Do not break either of them.

Don’t harass people

We do not tolerate harassment of any kind. Therefore, do not stalk, follow, badger, intimidate, threaten or otherwise make yourself impossible to disengage from. If someone tries to move on from the conversation, let them go -- in person or online. If someone explicitly tells you to leave them alone, respect that.

Don’t sexually harass people

This includes teasing, jokes, innuendo, photos/images, gestures, touching, grabbing, or giving gifts of a sexual or unwanted nature. This will not be tolerated. Don’t do it. If you are questioning whether or not your intended behavior is toeing that line, DO NOT DO IT.

This holds true whether you are talking via text, voice, video, in an online game, in VR, or the real world.

Don’t steal

Don’t take other people’s property. Don’t take other people’s ideas. Don’t take other people’s tacos. Just as importantly, don’t borrow something without asking permission or making a note of it.

Don’t make recordings of people

Don’t take pictures, photos, or audio/video recordings of individuals without asking and receiving their permission. People on the other end of a conference call, engaged in VR, or otherwise distracted may not know you’re there or that you’re recording. Always ask first. Furthermore, do not share (via social media or otherwise) pictures or recordings without explicit, informed consent from the subjects of those photos.

No weapons, drugs, or alcohol

Do not bring weapons of any kind into our spaces or to our events. Weapons are prohibited in our offices and at our events. Drugs may only be taken as prescribed. Any alcohol will be made available at events by certified beer/wine/liquor slingers to those who can prove they are of age to drink and wish to do so responsibly. Alcohol not made available by us at events, drugs not prescribed to you by a medical professional, and weapons of any kind are prohibited in our spaces and at our events.

Moderation is awesome

You’re an adult, we expect you to know your limits like one. So don’t get wasted on any of your preferred methods of inebriation before or during work hours, at FarBridge offices or venues, or before/at any events associated with FarBridge.

This is a gate-keeping free-zone

Don’t be a know-it-all. Ask questions instead of assuming. Educate each other. Your peers are smart and talented and passionate about their favorite subjects. We can all learn from each other. Be willing to share your knowledge and also be willing to be a student. Try not to make assumptions about who knows what.

Consequences of Violating this Code of Conduct

Any violation of the above is an excellent way to get removed from FarBridge offices, events, and our online communities, have your contract cancelled, or your employment terminated. Repeat offenses may result in you being banned from all future events where FarBridge is involved. Depending on the severity of the offense(s), the involvement of law enforcement and other regulatory or policing agencies may be necessary.
