Homeworld: Vast Reaches Brings Classic Real-Time Strategy Gameplay, New VR Interface, and Epic Space Battles to SteamVR on October 23, with Upgraded Visuals and Expanded Content

Your fleet is at your fingertips in this new Homeworld experience

AUSTIN, Texas – October 3 – FarBridge, Inc., a multiplatform game developer focused on bringing great IPs to life, is proud to announce the virtual reality experience of the beloved Homeworld saga, Homeworld: Vast Reaches, will launch on SteamVR on October 23. Following the initial release on Meta Quest, this definitive version includes a dramatic single-player campaign, plus new Challenge Levels designed to put elite strategy players’ command skills to the ultimate test. Gamers with headsets across HTC Vive, Valve Index, Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3, and Pimax will be able to play the newest entry of the series on PCVR for the first time.

“When we launched on Meta Quest initially, some core strategy players reported they had mastered the gameplay in Vast Reaches and wanted harder missions, so we built three new Challenge Levels for this new version with them in mind,” said Richard Rouse, FarBridge Creative Director. “Get ready!”

A New Standard for VR Strategy Games

Famous for three-dimensional combat encounters and striking environments in deep space, the Homeworld setting provides an ideal virtual stage for strategy game players. Homeworld: Vast Reaches drops fans directly into intense, 360-degree space battles, taking the classic strategy gameplay mechanics from the series and adapts them for virtual reality with quick and fluid control. Players can watch their command decisions unfold from any angle as they create and direct new ships into combat from the virtual command module on their wrist. This new perspective in VR allows players to build units, shape fleet formations, and orchestrate combat tactics while in the middle of the action.

A Bold New Story in the Beloved Homeworld Saga

Set between the events of Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2, Homeworld: Vast Reaches tells a gripping new story that follows the iconic Kushan Mothership as it is pulled from retirement by its legendary commander Karan S’jet. She is joined by new Fleet Command, Tyrra Soban, to confront a mysterious new threat.

“We are exceedingly proud to be part of the Homeworld series, and to expand upon its rich lore in new and exciting ways," said Patrick Curry, CEO of FarBridge. “We built Homeworld: Vast Reaches to give fans a front row seat to colossal space combat, a riveting new story, and fully immersive, real-time strategy gameplay.”
