Good Community: Being an Ally and Uplifting the LGBTQIA+ Community

As we continue talking about what it means to build a Good Community, we want to take a moment to share the ways we can be good allies to our friends in the LGBTQIA+ community year-round. Now more than ever, it is important that we unite in support for justice and equality to combat the discrimination taking place before our eyes globally.

At FarBridge, we are committed to making a safe, welcoming environment for all humans we work and come into contact with. Out Youth serves Central Texas LGBTQIA+ (lesbian/gay/bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning, intersex, and asexual) youth and their allies with programs and services to ensure these promising young people develop into happy, healthy, successful adults.

Elevated Access recognizes that not all people have access to the healthcare they need due to stigma in their community. They believe that everyone deserves access to healthcare such as abortion and gender-affirming care. The organization provides free transportation to get people where they can get the care they need to live their best life.

The National Center for Transgender Equality advocates to change policies and society to increase understanding and acceptance of transgender people. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice.
