FarBridge’s 2021: A Year in Review
The year is coming to an end and we couldn’t be more proud of the work this team has accomplished over the last twelve months. While working remotely, we worked on some really fun projects, welcomed new team members, launched an internship program, and saw the majority of our team in person for the first time since March 13, 2020!
Projects we worked on in 2021:
Shipping RWBY: Grimm Eclipse — Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch
We are so proud of this project and happy to be able to partner with our friends at Rooster Teeth and Aspyr. It’s not often that a game can claim to be a completely Austin-run project and we couldn’t be more excited to make that a reality. We highly recommend you read more about this experience and the behind-the-scenes steps it took to add in the new local multiplayer mode and features in this blog post by our producer, Emma “Vox” Rausch.
Used our in-house technology, FarBridge Worlds, to make Mighty Coconut’s Walkabout Mini Golf available on SteamVR and multiple other platforms
It was a no-brainer when our friends over at Mighty Coconut enlisted our help to port Walkabout Mini Golf to the Nintendo Switch. We’ve worked with Lucas Martell, Director & Owner at Mighty Coconut, on previous projects and knew that our in-house technology could help make this a smooth process. Our Lead Developer and Producer, Taylor Gates, wrote a blog post about the experience, and how we made it happen remotely.
We announced that we’re working on the Battlefield franchise
We couldn’t be more excited to team up with Industrial Toys and Electronic Arts on one of our all-time favorite game franchises. We hope to share more with the public soon!
;)
Our friends at Wayside Press had their project Political Arena funded via Kickstarter
We’ll be working with our friend Eliot Nelson to help bring his new game, Political Arena, to life in 2022. Political Arena is a video game that puts you in the center of American democracy. Nelson and the game received a lot of media coverage, including NPR’s All Things Considered and the Washington Post, during the fundraising period. Check out the NPR article to see some rad art from the FarBridge team.
It’s been amazing to grow and work together — we’re deeply grateful that we could safely gather so many of us together (many for the first time!) for an end-of-year shenanigan. We even managed to make technology (briefly!) work to zoom in some folks who were unable to attend in person.
We’re hopeful that this is the first of many safer and safer gatherings as we step into this next year together.
